Arabs use a white piece of cloth called Koofieh to protect their face and head against the rays of the sun and the dust.
This villa project belongs to an Arab family in the city of Dubai, at first it was merely a discarded body lost in a space devoid of meaning
The villa is made up of two parts, where the larger one is the family home and the smaller one is a living quarter for servants which also serves as a majlis for the man of the house. The area between these two parts was unusable for the family due to the scorching desert heat and in being the view of the public and therefore was only a liminal space.
By taking inspiration from the form and practicality of the Koofieh, we’ve used white sheets to provide shade and to limit the visibility of privet areas.
